Assistant Director Program

ALL 2012 AD POSITIONS HAVE BEEN FILLED
The Colorado Shakespeare Festival is dedicated to the career development of emerging Shakespearean directors. The CSF AD Program pairs 3-5 early career directors who’ve shown interest and aptitude toward the production of Shakespearean or similar classic plays, with professional directors each summer season.  The AD will be expected to serve in whatever capacity their respective director shall require, while gaining experience and a valuable perspective on the inner-workings of a professional, American Shakespearean rehearsal process, and serve as a valued member of the festival.  AD’s who exhibit particular aptitude and talents during their initial summer production may be considered for future AD or directing assignments within the festival’s range of programs.  AD positions are unpaid.

• A cover letter describing your interest in the program
Your professional resume (please include all degrees in theatre, directing experience, and Shakespeare experience)
One letter of recommendation from a Theatre professional or academic
Your electronic portfolio, if available (CD-ROM or website only)

Dramaturgy Program

Since 1983 the CSF has maintained a commitment to train and employ graduate theater students from CU's Department of Theater and Dance as production dramaturgs. These student-dramaturgs are Ph.D. or advanced master's students who have demonstrated proficiency in writing and research, and have strong backgrounds in acting/directing or theater history/theory. Generally, a dramaturg's major responsibility is to provide research assistance to the director and the production team from the fall through the summer rehearsal period. The focus of research during this period is on the text. Material on production and critical history may also be included. The specific nature of this research is closely guided by the director and the demands of the production.  During this period our dramaturgs are also required to write articles on the play and its production for the summer program and educational study guides, and deliver lectures in the community about the play.
To apply, please contact Amanda Giguere, Literary Manager: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
All applicants must be current CU students in the graduate THDN program.  Dramaturgs receive a small stipend, and must enroll in THTR 6007.
