Education & Outreach Mission

Our Mission

"To illuminate meaning, expand understanding and deepen appreciation of Shakespeare's texts—through performances, workshops and lectures—providing invigorating, hands-on experience for students, teachers and communities throughout Colorado."

CSF Education offers a variety of programs and services for year-round Shakespeare education as well as summer opportunities to enrich your experience of the Festival.

Our Programs:

Summer Camps
Held at CSF’s facilities on the CU-Boulder campus, CSF offers two camp programs. Camp Shakespeare 2011, our popular three-week summer program focuses on the skills needed for acting Shakespeare.  Students between the ages of 10 and 18 prepare shortened versions of the CSF season plays.  Shakespeare's Sprites is a brand-new week-long program for ages 6-9, in which campers discover the joy of Shakespeare through games, improvisation and scene work.

CSF in the Schools

Experience Shakespeare through performances, workshops and classroom visits.  A combination of live performance and hands-on workshops is an excellent way to introduce your students to the major ideas behind Shakespeare's language, and to excite them about the Bard.  CSF Education offers performances, workshops and lectures to schools in Colorado.

School Matinees

Join us at our indoor theatre for a weekday matinee of our holiday production.  School matinees include a study guide and a post-show talkback with the actors.

Study Guides

Brush up your Shakespeare before you attend our season productions.  These informative study guides include plot synopses, character breakdowns, and contextual information to enhance your experience at the theatre.

Community Engagement

Suit the word to the action wherever it is found…avail yourself of educational goings-on around this year’s plays–our "Classics 101" series at the Boulder Public Library, book discussions & book club opportunities off campus and around town.

Shakespeare Resources

Life-long learners, students, teachers—let CSF Education help take you into the world of Shakespeare, his plays and the relevancy of his works to the temper and pulse of our own time.
