Peter Glazer

Peter Glazer is a playwright, director, author and teacher. His musical Woody Guthrie's American Song has seen over 100 productions since its premiere in 1988. Other theatre pieces he has written or co-written include Foe, adapted from Nobel Prize winner J. M. Coetzee's novel; Michael, Margaret, Pat and Kate, with singer-songwriter Michael Smith; O'Carolan's Farewell to Music, with Celtic harpist Patrick Ball; and Heart of Spain - A Musical of the Spanish Civil War, with Eric Bain Peltoniemi. He is currently writing a new musical, The Golden Door, in collaboration with Irish singer-songwriter Melanie O'Reilly. Glazer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. His book Radical Nostalgia: Spanish Civil War Commemoration in America was published by the University of Rochester Press. Glazer is a member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers.
