Much Ado About Nothing

by William Shakespeare
Directed by Lynne Collins

Set in romantic Barcelona, Spain, as civil war approaches, our production of this ever-popular comedy is full of passion, steeped in deception and spiced with satire. The saucy Beatrice (played by Karen Slack) and the clever Benedick (played by Geoffrey Kent) come together as one of the wittiest, most irresistible duos known to the stage. Adorned with skillful wordplay as intricate as a mosaic, Shakespeare’s courtship of two couples cuts away the romantic make-believe that shrouds true love. Lies, spies, a masked ball and “merry wars” make this a charming romantic comedy.
