Colorado Shakes Well-Represented in Ovation Awards Nominations The Colorado Shakespeare Festival has been nominated for The Denver Post’s prestigious Ovation Awards in several major categories, including Best Drama, Best Comedy, Best Dramatic Actor, and Best Comedic Actor. Some highlights of this year’s CSF recognitions: · Of 103 theatre companies in the state, 36 received nominations; of these, CSF has 12 nominations. · CSF’s production of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD tied with the Arvada Center’s THE CRUCIBLE for the second-most nominated production with five nominations each (Curious Theatre’s production of EURYDICE received the most, with seven). · Three out of the ten nominees for Best Year by an Actor or Actress are members of CSF’s resident acting company (Jamie Ann Romero, Karen Slack, and Stephen Weitz). · All three of the nominees for Best Year by an Actor at the Denver Center Theatre Company (considered in a category by itself) have – or soon will – star in CSF productions (Randy Moore [Around the World in 80 Days], Sam Gregory [To Kill a Mockingbird], and John Hutton [King Lear]).
