Women of Will returns for 2 performances

Tina Packer’s exploration of Shakespeare’s women comes straight from Off-Broadway
Having sent Tina Packer’s exploration of Shakespeare’s women off to rave reviews in Prague and Off-Broadway in 2012, the Colorado Shakespeare Festival presents two special performances of “Women of Will: The Overview” on July 12 and 13.
“Women of Will: The Overview” is Packer’s innovative single-performance journey through Shakespeare’s attitudes toward women, seen through the eyes of his most famous female creations. Lisa Kennedy of The Denver Post said Packer and her onstage partner, Nigel Gore, “have an … astonishing chemistry as they inhabit Shakespeare’s creations.”
Ben Brantley of The New York Times said the overview is “marvelous … it’s not just poetry in motion, it’s thought made flesh. … Subliminally erotic (and) commandingly eloquent.”
Gore also is playing Macbeth at CSF this summer in a production the Boulder Weekly has called “nothing short of brilliant,” and Bottom in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” which the Boulder Daily Camera calls “a delightful evening.”
